Frequently asked questions
Can you guarantee my application will be approved?
No. Only the Government of Canada (IRCC, the IRB or the Federal Court) decides applications, appeals and cases. No licensed representative can guarantee an outcome. Be cautious of anyone who promises an approval, a job offer for a fee, or a "guaranteed" visa.
How do I know you are licensed?
Gurjot Singh Sidhu is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC-IRB), CICC licence #R713056. You can confirm his status on the CICC public register (opens in a new tab).
Do I have to use a representative?
No. You can apply on your own, and IRCC treats every application the same way whether or not you use a representative. Many people choose a licensed representative for complex situations, previous refusals or hearings. If you pay someone, they must be authorized. See IRCC: using a representative (opens in a new tab).
How long will my application take, and what are the government fees?
Processing times and government fees change often, so we don't publish them here. Check the official IRCC processing times (opens in a new tab) and IRCC fee list (opens in a new tab).
What are your professional fees?
Our fees depend on the type and complexity of the file and are set out in a written service agreement before any work begins. The consultation fee is $130 CAD for every type of consultation. There is no charge for commissioning affidavits.
Can we meet in Punjabi or Hindi?
Yes. Consultations are available in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
I received a procedural fairness letter (PFL). What should I do?
Read it carefully, note the deadline, and get advice quickly. A PFL means an officer has concerns and is giving you a chance to respond before deciding. Don't ignore it, and don't send a rushed or inconsistent reply.
My application was refused. What are my options?
It depends on the type of application and the reasons for refusal. Options may include a new application that addresses the concerns, a request for reconsideration, an appeal to the IRB in some cases, or judicial review at the Federal Court. Deadlines for appeals and judicial review are short, so contact us as soon as possible.
Do you help clients outside Canada?
Yes, we work with clients in Canada and abroad. Consultations are available by phone and video, so you can meet with us from anywhere.
What should I prepare for a consultation?
A short summary of your situation, your immigration history (including any past refusals), and your questions. Please don't send passport numbers or ID documents through the website form. If you become a client, we'll collect documents securely.
Can you commission my affidavit?
Yes. Gurjot is a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits for British Columbia (No. 2026-1056). Please book an appointment and bring valid identification in person. There is no charge for commissioning.
